A glimpse into the future – The 58 SOW played host to an EC-130J assigned to the 193 Special Operations Wing (193 SOW) from Harrisburg, PA. The aircraft, flown by Air Force Special Operations Command’s MC-130J Initial Cadre, is very similar to the new fleet of aircraft slated to arrive at Kirtland AFB in 2011. Known as RECAP to those involved, the new, purpose built aircraft will replace the 40 plus year old HC/MC-130P currently operated by the 58 SOW. The crews accomplished several firsts for the program including high pressure altitude-mountainous low-level operations and airdrops. (9-15 Jan 10)
